Rita Mary Behring

On December 29, 2016 RITA MARY BEHRING, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, while surrounded by family and friends, passed on into eternal life. She was 69 years old. VISITATION will be held at J.E. Foust & Son Funeral Home, 523 S. Main, Grapevine, Texas from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. MEMORIAL SERVICE & CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held on January 4, 2017 at 2 p.m. MEMORIALS may be made, in her name, to the American Cancer Society or StandUpToCancer. Rita was born on the 4th of July, 1947 in Elgin, Illinois. She was the oldest of eight children of Walter & Anna Maria Lee. She was a retired attendance clerk at Duff Elementary for the Arlington Independent School District. She was a proud cancer survivor who carried on with dignity and strength for 14 years after her original diagnosis. Rita enjoyed cooking, quilting, painting, and reading. She loved watching her grandchildren grow up. She was a feisty champion of the underdog. Rita was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Marie Lee, and her father, Walter Lee. SURVIVORS: Husband of 37 years, Charles Behring. Children: Martin Thomsen and wife, Christine, Mark Thomsen, Matthew Thomsen and wife, Mandy, and Mary Thomsen and wife, Lori. Brothers: Fred Lee (Kathy), Tommy Joe Lee (Cindy), Larry Lee (Barb), and Edward Lee (Mary Therese). Sisters: Donna Bridges (Donny), Pat Bridges (Bill), and Linda Beuhler. Grandchildren: Rhyanna Thomsen, Blake Thomsen (Jessica), Adam Thomsen, Aliyah Shetler, and Gage Shetler. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and a host of close friends all over the country.
