Wanda was born in Paris, TX on 1/28/34; she lived all of her adult life in the Fort Worth area.
Wanda Williams was retired from the American Paint Horse Association/APHA. Though she had no background with horses, Wanda helped direct the course of APHA. Hired in 1963 as a part-time "Pedigree Painter" for the association, Wanda became a full-time employee in 1969. From registrations to rulebook revisions to correspondence with members, Wanda did just about every task APHA had to offer. In 1975, Ed Roberts, APHA Executive Secretary, handpicked Wanda as his Administrative Assistant, a position Wanda called her "dream job". A self-described problem-solver, Wanda most enjoyed helping APHA members, many with whom she cultivated deep and meaningful relationships. In 1999, Wanda was named honorary APHA Past-President. Wanda retired from the APHA in 2000. In 2013, Wanda was inducted into the APHA Hall of Fame in recognition of her many contributions to APHA. During retirement, Wanda continued her involvement with APHA as a member of the APHA Hall of Fame Selection Committee.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Tommy E. Williams, her parents Clotus and Tammie Lee Cooper, her brother Archie Cooper, sister Georgia Cooper, sister-in-law Joanne Williams, brother-in-law Frank Williams and Honorary Parents, Robert and Cora Arnold.
Wanda is survived by her sons Billy Williams (Lavinia) and Bobby Williams (Debra); Grandchildren: David Williams (Carol), Amy Williams (Kai Eder), Emily Wolfe (Richard), Taylor Williams (Stephen Walker), and Bailey Cordoves (Chris); Great-grandchildren: Noah Lockerd, Hailee Williams, Riley Williams, Max Eder, Luzie Eder, Audrey Wolfe, Preslie Walker, Kinsley Walker, Chloe Walker, Lucas Cordoves, Brooks Cordoves, Cason Cordoves and Cameron Cordoves.
Family gatherings were the best of times in Wanda's book. She is now reunited with her beloved Tommy, family and friends who have gone before. She was beautiful, gracious, generous and loved to laugh. She will be sorely missed by all who called her Mom, Gram or friend.
The family will have a graveside service 10:00am, Thursday May 21, 2020 at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, 5725 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville, Texas 76034.
