i worked next door to david for almost 40 years. We were all young doctors starting our careers at a tough time for specialists.   i will miss him and that taste of youth and starting our careers.

I was so sad to learn of the passing of my friend David. I live the furthest from the New York area of all the 8 friends but came up for our last reunion and had the opportunity to spend some time with David.  

All during our growing up years David was a funny and brilliant friend. In the summer of 1965 David, Billy Coleman, and I along with another friend of David’s, Robert Rosenfeld, went on a 6-week excursion to Europe.  David was a great traveling companion, and his humor helped these naïve Brooklyn boys cope with the difficulties of travel in strange countries with strange food.  We had a great time and learned a lot about the world and ourselves.   

He will always be one of our Bensonhurst Boys.  May David “Rest in Peace” and my deepest condolences to his family.

I am very saddened to hear the passing of Dr David Lerner. He was a very well known ophthalmologist and one of the fastest cataracts surgeon of his time, May the family be comforted in knowing that his legacy has left an indelible mark among the people who were fortunate to know him.
