I have many happy memories of Dr. Rachman. He was one of my professors at Baruch College, CUNY, a kind, gentle, and most helpful person. He was the chairman of my dissertation committee, and I thank him for sticking with me from the days of position paper to the completion of my doctoral thesis. His patience, understanding, and encouragement kept me motivated to finish my work when I did. I remain eternally grateful to him for being there when I needed him most. I bow my head to you, sir. I thought about Professor Rachman today. I was his research assistant in 1995-1996.  He asked me to help him to write a chapter in his latest book on fashion...I declined, thinking that I do not know much about the subject...Now some 27 years later, I am thinking of him, heartwarmingly...Life has made me a fashion expert, being the founder of the IMONI Group, working in the capital of fashion, in Paris, France. Perhaps the Professor knew something better than me...My late condolences to his family. Monika Rab

I am truly grateful and blessed to have known Dr. Rachman. He was a great boss and a great mentor. His kindness and generosity knows no bounds. His intellect, curiosity and love for life was infectious. He loved to read, and he loved to travel. But most of all, I know he loved his family deeply. One of my most cherished memory are the weekly dinners we had for many years when I was his teaching assistant at Baruch College. The subject of his dear Barbara (sometimes her work in the NYC school system and other times her latest fender bender), Marli (and all the adorable stories with Ali and Kara), Nancy (and her latest marketing assignment), as well as Bruce and Peter, were always part of our conversation. Joshua and Tori would come later. Without question, his family was always more important than any of his other many accomplishments. I'm proud to have known him and to have learned from him. Dear Mrs. Rachman, Marli, and Nancy,

I am really sorry to hear that your dad passed away.  I regret that I did not get a chance to visit him since our last get-together.  Your father was the kindest man I have ever known.  He was always jovial.  The best part is he treated me like a son.  What I have achieved in my career was due to his patience with me and his guidance.  I considered him as God's blessing to me during a difficult time in my career.

I will not be able to make it in time for the funeral because I am in Manila.  Please know that he is in my daily prayers.  I plan to visit his grave on my next trip to New York.
