June 30, 1930 – October 12, 2023
Gerald (Jerry) Fine passed away on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023.
Born in Brooklyn - a fact he was very proud of, he led a full, active, healthy life until his sudden death at age 93. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Miriam [Fried] Fine and his ‘lady friend’ in his later years, Anne Wheeler. He leaves behind three daughters: Karen Fine Dovey [David T. Dovey], Wendy Fine Gross [David Gross], and Nancy Fine. Also left behind are his four grandchildren- Alexander Dovey, Bretton Dovey, Brian Gross, and Emily Gross.
Gerald loved theater, skiing, adventure, travel, good food, telling stories, and being with people. After graduating with a degree in Economics from the City College of NY, Gerald became a key figure in the corrugated box industry. As evidenced by his success and generosity, he enjoyed his work which he continued well into his 80s. Fiercely independent, he was happy to spend his entire adult life in the first and only house he ever lived in, the one in Port Washington. While not always obvious, he deeply loved his immediate family, his relatives, and those who were ‘like family’ to him. So many people loved Gerald and he will be greatly missed.
Contributions in memory of Gerald S. Fine maybe made to "Doctors without Borders" or the "American Cancer Society".
