Judith (Judy) Hertz passed away on January 29, 2025 in West Orange, NJ at the age of 86. She was the beloved mother of three, Bradley (Robin), Jonathan (Fatima) and Deborah Hertz (deceased). She was the grandmother of four grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Russell, Gabriel, Justin and Theodore Hertz. Judy is also survived by her sister Esther Urdang, a dear first cousin who was very much like a sister, Estelle Pinto, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, near and far.
Judy was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 2, 1938 to Mendel and Rose Klepper. She later moved to Queens where she raised her family and eventually moved to Armonk, NY later in life. She was a tremendously resilient woman, managing life’s hardships with grace and humility. She was widowed at a very young age with three children after her husband Murray Hertz passed away and simultaneously pursued a successful career working in insurance. In 2019, Judy suffered another tragic loss when her daughter, Debbie, predeceased her. Despite these profound losses, Judy was the source of strength for all and very much beloved by those who knew her.
Judy had a zest for living life to the fullest and enjoying her loved ones. She never took time spent with family or a joyful experience for granted. She loved to travel, frequenting cruise ships, or hosting various gatherings. Her home was always opened to all and she was warm and welcoming. Judy loved to entertain and quite famous for her Passover Seders. She loved a good mystery novel, attending Broadway shows, and meeting friends for lunch in NYC. Judy was deeply loved by her family and friends and will remain forever in our hearts.
