He was born June 12, 1949, to Jose and Emilia (Valdez) Martinez in Fort Lupton, Colorado. He married Elida Alvarado on April 21, 1979 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
He enjoyed fishing, traveling, gambling and bingo. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
He enjoyed working for Morning Fresh Farms. He took pride in his work, family and friends. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree Honor Guard, and the Greeley Stampede Wrangler for 29 years. He is well known for his smile.
Survivors are his wife, Elida; daughter, Anita (Alvarado) Lawson (Brian); grandchildren, Briana, Trinity and Derrick Lawson; daughter, Valerie Martinez and her children; son, Jimmy Martinez and sisters, Vivian Lucero of California and Connie Aerllano of Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Henry, Victor and Ross, sisters, Mary and Bernabel, nephews, James Alvarado, Mark Maldonado and Conrad Esparza and niece, Daniella Mendoza-Alvarado.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018 followed by Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. both at Stoddard Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 915 12th Street, Greeley. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
