Agnes T. Fischer, 89, died at home on March 28, 2016. Born to Annie (Howley) Daly and Patrick J. Daly on June 11, 1926. She rightly took her place as number six of what was to become known as the “Daly Dozen”. She had three brothers and eight sisters growing up in Manhattan, NYC. They later moved to the Bronx, NY in time to begin High School at Saint Nicholas of Tolentine; where she discovered her love of singing with the high school glee club. After graduating, she began her career in modeling designer clothing for worldwide buyers on the NYC runway. During this time, she met her future husband of 55 years, Edward G. Fischer when he returned home from WWII. They dated and eventually married on July 30th, 1949. They had a son, Eugene M. Fischer (Rita, San Antonio, Fl) and a daughter, Regina A. Fischer (Cindy, Fort Collins, CO). She later worked as a cashier for a large grocery store back East (A&P) so she could be available to raise her children when they were out of school. She eventually ended up as a time-keeper in Sperry/Unisys until retirement with her husband and moved to Florida to be nearer to their son, daughter-in-law and grandson, Michael (Laura) and their two daughters, Shelby and Makenzie of San Antonio, FL. Agnes enjoyed and excelled in being a member of Toastmasters; the Sperry Choraleers, member of the Choir at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Port Richey, FL; Eucharistic Minister for Queen of Angels Church, Sunnyside NY and St. Michaels, FL. But her greatest passion which proved her devotion of faith was being a Lector for 37 years in both churches mentioned and retiring from it at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Windsor, CO. Survived by her daughter and three sisters; Kathleen Mulally, MD; Theresa O’Doherty, Killarney, Ireland; and Frances Counihan, WA. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, three brothers and five sisters. A Memorial Mass will be held at OLV, Windsor; arrangements pending. A funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, St. Joe FL; interment with husband, side-by-side with her son at Bushnell National Cemetery, Sumter FL later this year. In Lieu of flowers, donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation (Wish.org) or Pathways Hospice, Fort Collins, CO. in her name would be greatly appreciated.
