
Vern was born on July 12, 1938, in Kersey, Colorado, to Peter and Velma (Warner) Peterson. After graduating high school, he proudly joined the United States Navy, serving from 1956 to 1962 as a shipfitter (SM3), including service during the Vietnam era.
On July 14, 1959, Vern married the love of his life, Delila Shoemaker, in Carson City, Nevada. Together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and dedication. Vern worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator in pipelining, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and resilience. He was also a proud member of the Evans VFW Post 6624.
Vern was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Delila Peterson; his daughters, Laura and Leslie; and his cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Wesley; and his siblings.
Vern will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and the steady, hardworking life he led. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
