Alfred Eugene Vigil

Alfred “Gene” is survived by his wife Roseanne Vigil; his mother Della Vigil three children Mikki Tye, her husband Tom Tye of Nebraska; Gina Vigil with Chris Dieball of Florida and Gene Vigil of Texas. He is also survived by two grandsons Nathan Tye and Simon Tye. He leaves 3 brothers, Richard Vigil, David Vigil and Eric and wife, Cindy Vigil a sister Elaine Trujillo with husband Bob Trujillo. Surviving in-laws include: Annie Romero, Lora Romero, Arlene Niccoli, Lanny Romero Jr. , Frank Romero and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Claude Vigil and brother, Gary Vigil.

Alfred was born on January 20, 1941 in Sopris, Colorado to Claude and Della Vigil. He graduated from Sopris High School in 1959. He then graduated from Trinidad State Junior College with a degree in electrical engineering. He married Roseanne Romero, his high school sweet heart in 1961. After moving to Loveland, Co, Alfred began working for Hewlett Packard. Over the next 5 years the couple welcomed three children into their home, Michaelene, Gina, and Alfred Jr.

Alfred was accomplished at working with computers and often used his talents to pursue his love of history. He researched tirelessly about Colorado, New Mexico and family history. He contributed research and spoke for the Colorado Society of Hispanic Genealogy and volunteered for the Berthoud Historical Society, Poudre Wilderness Volunteers, Trinidad Historical Society and the Oregon/California Trails Association. Alfred was an avid mountain climber, cyclist, outdoorsman and amateur archeologist.

A Rosary will be held at 9:30am on Friday, January 2, 2015 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Memorial Mass 10:00am Friday, January 2, 2015 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loveland. Rosary arrangements to be announced.
