LeRoy moved with his family from the Topeka area in the late 1930s. The farming family followed the Dust Bowl migration and put down firm roots in the northern Colorado region. In 1955, LeRoy married Janet Gomer in Longmont, Colorado where they also raised three children, Pam, Richard and Greg. Following that marriage, LeRoy married Ernestine Ruzowski in Boulder, Colorado in 1974. They had one daughter, Jennifer.
LeRoy and Ernestine settled in the Greeley area where he worked for nearly 30 years hauling milk for various manifestations of Dairy Farmers of America. He loved the freedom of owning his own truck and the myriad chores and tasks involved with its upkeep. LeRoy begrudgingly retired in 1999 and to be sure, the many farmers and cows on his route missed his daily visits!
LeRoy was known to be quite outgoing and friendly. He never met a stranger and enjoyed the company of his wife and many pets over the years. LeRoy was blessed with enumerable grandchildren and great-grandchildren with whom he loved to joke and play.
LeRoy is survived by his children, Pam (Chuck) Woodard of Bridgeport, Texas; Richard Conaway, Greg Harris and Jennifer (Michael) Travis all of Loveland; sister-in-law Norma Conaway of Loveland, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dean, sisters Freda and Dolores, wives Janet and Ernestine, and grandson Lance.
Celebration of Life will be held at 2pm Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
