Arlene A. Bergstrom of Greeley, Colorado died Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Grace Point in Greeley. She was born August 2, 1926 to Ennoch and Minnie (Albers) Wittfoth in Hildreth, Nebraska.
Arlene grew up in the Axtell, Nebraska area where she later met and married Elgin Jackson in 1943. After their marriage, they moved to Cambridge, Nebraska and then to Greeley in 1980. Elgin died in 1991.
Arlene married Orville Casteel in 1993, he died in 2002. She married James Bergstrom in 2006.
Arlene was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cambridge. She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and the family enjoyed her legendary fried chicken and pies. She loved to sing and play the piano and shared her gift of music with others. She was very generous with her hospitality. She enjoyed the mountains and fishing trips.
She is survived by her husband James Bergstrom of Axtell, NE; daughters Pat (Harold) Socolofsky of College Station, TX, Susan (Loren) Bley of Greeley, CO and Jane (Wendell) Savage of Aurora, CO; son Dudley “Sonny” Jackson and fiancé Debbie Fry of Rye, CO; a sister Evon (John) Willman and brother Carl (Norma Lee) Wittfoth all of Bertrand, NE; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 husbands and 2 sisters Lucille Roos and Marsha Gewecke.
Visitation 4-7 p.m. today at Stoddard Funeral Home. Funeral Service 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
