She passed away peacefully at her home near Briggsdale with her loving husband by her side. The wife and mother of two was 76 years old.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, George Baker and Geneva (Maher) Baker. She had an older sister that succumbed to disease at the age of four named Bonnie Joan Baker that she always wished she could have met. Her older sister Marion (Baker) Shears has also passed on as well as her favorite son-in-law Joe Heintzman. Barb had a great granddaughter that was born on January 24. She passed on the 27th of 2023. Her name was Bo Annabell Gnerer.(Her parents Taylor Canaday and Kaden Gnerer.)
Her husband was Craig Hope and she is also survived by her two daughters, Brenda (Schmitt) Heintzman and Laura (Schmitt) Land. There were two grandchildren. Brenda has a son named Cole and his wife Haley. Laura has a daughter named Taylor Canaday. The only remaining sister that Barbara had is Jean (Baker) Orwig and she resides in Iowa. She also left behind many nieces and nephews including Marion’s son Craig Loffredo who was kind enough to visit her in Briggsdale a few years ago.
Barbara entered the world in Colorado Springs, CO on February 26, 1947. The family soon moved to Iowa where she was raised. About 1970 Barbara moved to Colorado with her two small children. She started off in Evergreen then lived in Denver. The job that she talked the most about was working construction at The Coors brewery when women didn’t typically do that sort of job.
She loved to travel and her face would light up when she talked about taking her girls out in the foothills and riding dirt bikes. She loved to tell about going to Glenwood Springs with her mother and two daughters to stay in a cabin and the river started rising and made her mother apprehensive. Her mother had the same reaction on a whale watching tour in Hawaii and thought the whales were out to get them. She always treasured that enjoyed trips that included Reno NV, Corpus Christi TX, Galveston TX and three trips to Florida to visit Fort Walton, Orlando, and Cocoa Beach.
Thank you Barbara for the memories and returning my love for 15 years. Many people have said that we were good for each other and I guess that is a big part of what a good marriage is all about. I know that I am a better man for having you in my life and was blessed to be your husband.
I love you more! - Craig
