Her life was finally finished here on earth, and He called her home. Betty was born December 15, 1955 in Greeley, Colorado. She will be buried in Greeley alongside her parents, Marshall and Dorothy Jean Adams.
Betty left Greeley after the death of her mother, and joined her brother, John and sister-in-law, Glenda Adams in Illinois (1993). Betty had a wonderful opportunity to live in Kentucky at Stewart Home & School, a residential school for students of all ages with intellectual disabilities. She thrived and loved the school. There were many opportunities to learn, and she had her own special horse, Woody, she groomed and took care of. In December 2010, she moved to Houston and Glenda Adams became responsible as her sole guardian. Betty was loved and cared for by Glenda and received a huge blessing through Glenda’s years of love and sacrifice for her well-being.
Glenda made sure Betty was provided excellent care at the Conservatory throughout her years there. Betty was loved and cared for by her day/night care givers in her apartment. Her caregivers were Jan, Norma, Evelyn, Maria, Susan, and LaTanya. They gave her lots of love and attention. If you asked the girls, they would tell you they were loved more and blessed by Betty many times over.
Sometimes we question God’s ways when there is suffering. Betty was mentally and physically challenged and suffered through many operations/ailments. Betty pushed through it all and we observed her courage and love. She would smile her special smile and let you know she loved you. Through our imperfections, it allows God to shine more brightly. You could say we all have “cracks/weaknesses” personally and God shines brighter through the cracks. God taught us love, patience, perseverance, joy, and endurance through Betty.
Thank you, God, for sharing Betty Jean Adams with us for a time.
