Betty De Vol, 94, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away March 15, 2017, at home with family by her side. She was born February 12, 1923, in Columbus, Nebraska. Her given name was Mary Elisabeth, but she always preferred to be called Betty.
Betty spent much of her childhood in the Belgrade, Nebraska area. She graduated from Belgrade High School and soon afterward began teaching country school. She later attended Grand Island Business School. Betty married and began raising a family in Texas, later settling in North Platte, Nebraska. In 1966, she and her daughters moved to Fort Collins, where she entered the real estate business. In her later years, she particularly enjoyed taking long country drives with her family; while she loved the Colorado landscape, she increasingly chose the country roads that were more reminiscent of her Nebraska childhood.
Betty is now resting in Heaven with her parents, Mark and Muriel (Malander) Andersen; her grandparents; her sister and brother-in-law, Roberta Christensen and Ronald Christensen; and her dearly loved daughter, Linda De Vol.
Betty is survived by: her daughter, Laura De Vol; her grandson, Dan Booth; her granddaughter, Amy Scott and Amy’s husband Eric Scott; and her sister, Ruth Toll; all of Fort Collins. She is also survived by her nieces Kathryn Christensen, Rhonda Richardson, and Paula Christensen and nephews David Toll and Mark Toll. We were so fortunate to have her in our lives. Although her beautiful spirit and smile will be so missed, her example and love will guide our way until we meet again in Heaven.
Graveside services were held at the Main Cemetery in Belgrade, Nebraska on March 20, 2017.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on May 19, 2017 at Grace Church Presbyterian, 300 Whedbee Street in Fort Collins, CO 80524.
