Betty George Manning passed away peacefully on September 26 in Fort Collins, Colorado surrounded by family. After a lifetime of perpetual motion, she succumbed to the rigors of being 92 years old. Betty will be interred at the cemetery in her beloved Belton, Texas where she grew up as part of many generations of the Eads, Ballard, Taylor and Ramsey families. Her great-grandfather, Dr. A.K. Ramsey was the first doctor in Bell County. Betty graduated from Belton High School in 1941 at the age of sixteen and went on to college at the University of Texas and Texas Women’s University. After a couple of years of college she went to work for American Airlines, where she spent the war years booking flights for traveling soldiers. She returned to Belton after the war where she met a recovering amputee, Lt. Deane Charles Manning of Stillwater, Oklahoma. They were married in 1945 and returned to Stillwater where Deane completed his degree in architecture. Afterward, they lived in Dallas for almost 50 years. Deane passed away in 1993 and Betty moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 2001. She loved its beauty and small town amenities. Betty was a prolific artist, gifted musician, master gardener and wonderful homemaker. She is survived by her son Michael Manning – a Fort Collins attorney, his wife Sandra Nesbit-Manning, her grandchildren Benjamin Grant Manning of Fort Collins, and Taylor Deane Manning, his wife Natasha and great granddaughter Cadence of Denver; also her daughter, Susan Stockton, grandchildren Sarah Stockton of Dallas and Coleman Stockton, his wife Chelsea and great grandson Traver Stockton, all of Austin; also Dr. A.E. Ballard and his wife, Dusty, of Temple.
