Betty Jean McClellan

Betty moved with her family to La Salle, CO in 1938. She graduated from Greeley High School in 1940 and attended Colorado State College. She worked in Chicago for the Civil Service during WWII.

Betty taught 2nd grade at both Beebe Draw and La Salle Elementary. She married George B. McClellan in 1954, and devoted the rest of life to being a farmer’s wife and mother to her four children.

Betty was involved in Grey Ladies, a leader in Girl Scouts and in 4-H. She was an active member of the La Salle Presbyterian Church. She loved singing, church, bowling, playing bridge with friends, cribbage with George, and dining and dancing with George and friends. Betty was known by her family and friends for her kindness, her sense of humor, and her great cooking.

She is survived by her children- Jack (Linda) McClellan, Gilcrest; Linda (Larry) Carlson, North Platte, NE, Jean Marie Aresco, Perkins, OK, and Roxane Keller, Greeley; brother Roger “Ole” Reeve; sisters Dorothy (Bud) Straight, Florence Straight, and Louise Kane. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and twelve great grand children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a brother Ralph “Dick”.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 A.M. with services to follow at 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 12, 2015, at the La Salle Presbyterian Church. Reception will immediately follow the church service. Interment at Linn Grove Cemetery at 2:00 P.M.
