Brenda was raised in Saguache, Colorado with five siblings on a farm. The family moved to Greeley when Brenda was in high school.
Brenda attended Mountain Valley High School and the Culinary Arts in Las Vegas, New Mexico. She worked as a cook most of her life.
Brenda enjoyed sightseeing, taking vacations, cooking for her family and had a straight-up, no filter kind of personality.
Brenda is survived by her husband of eight years, Carlos; father, Louis Ortega; sisters, Mary Ortega and Margie Ortega (Juan Nolasko); brothers, Henry Ortega (Sylvia), Curtis Ortega (Terri) and Max Ortega (Angel) and by many nieces.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Julie, brother-in-law, Raymond and uncle, Leroy Ortega.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2015 with Recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. both at Stoddard Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 a.m. Thursday, October 8, 2015 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Interment Evans Cemetery.
