Brian Bonnema

Brian Lynn Bonnema was born on October 8, 1958 in Rock Rapids, Iowa to Larry and Dorothy Bonnema. Brian moved to Fort Collins in 1971. He attended Blevins Jr High and Rocky Mountain High School. He graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Construction Management. Brian met and married his wife, Lori, while a student at CSU. They were wed on August 7, 1982. Brian began his career as a home builder. Brian built many homes in Larimer County and most recently was working in commercial construction.

To know Brian was to love him. He never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone he knew. He will be remembered for his positivity and his ability to see the humor in any situation. Brian had a way of making you laugh the second he walked in to a room. Brian’s passions included his beloved sports teams. He was an avid CSU Rams fan, and he loved those Broncos. Brian’s favorite places were the lake, Las Vegas, and his own back patio.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents Larry and Dorothy. He is survived by his wife of almost 35 years, his children Eric (Nadette) and Darcy Bonnema, and his grandchildren Kadyn and Grayson. He is also survived by his sister Roxann Bonnema.

A Celebration of Brian’s life will be held on Thursday July 6 at 1:00 PM. The celebration will be held at the Boyd Lake Pavilion. In lieu of flowers, please bring your favorite “Bonnema” story to share.
