Chuck Macrum, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2023 at the age of 80. He lived a remarkable life filled with love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
Charles Richard Macrum was born in Denver, Colorado on August 26, 1942, was raised in Sterling and graduated from Sterling High School, and lived the majority of his life in the Greeley area. Chuck was the second child of Edward and Margaret Macrum, siblings Ellie (Bob) Weakley and Bill (Susan) Macrum. Chuck served in the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.
From an early age, he displayed an exceptional curiosity and a thirst for high adventure. Chuck's insatiable appetite for outdoor activities took him from the golf course to snowmobiling in the mountains, and from boating on the lake to off-road and on-road motorcycle rides. Memorable trips to Sturgis were a highlight. He was an avid sports fan. Rarely did Chuck have a conversation with friends and family where the Broncos, Nuggets, Rockies, or UNC Bears didn’t come up. He was a gifted woodworking craftsman and made many beautiful pieces that his family will cherish.
Chuck's career spanned over five decades, during which he established himself as a highly respected general contractor throughout Weld County and Northern Colorado. His exceptional creativity and commitment to excellence made him a sought-after builder. Chuck's dedication to his work was surpassed only by his kindness and willingness to mentor others, leaving an indelible mark on the community and inspiring others.
While his professional achievements were commendable, Chuck's true legacy lies in the profound impact he had on the lives of those around him. Chuck married Lolly Hagemann on August 2, 1998. Their union provided a foundation of love and support for their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Lolly; his children, Cindy (Alan) Battles and Mike (Alane) Macrum; and Lolly’s children, Scott (Heather) Hagemann and Shana (John) LeNeveu. Together their beautiful, blended families have been blessed with 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and a large extended family and circle of friends.
A celebration to honor Chuck's life will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 3:00-3:30 p.m. at the Greeley Country Club, followed by a reception from 3:30-5:30 p.m. also at the Greeley Country Club located at 4500 W. 10th Street, Greeley.
Thank you for considering a donation to your charity of choice in Chuck’s name. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Funeral arrangements will be coordinated by Allnutt Funeral Service – Macy Chapel.
