Raised in Akron, Colorado, he grew up alongside his brother, George. When he grew older, he served in the United States Air Force until being honorably discharged and starting his working career. Charles was a Heavy Equipment Operator for many years. He ended his career at Trapper Mines in Craig, Colorado and remained most proud of the work he did as a Drag Line Operator.
Charles married the love of his life, Josie, and they were together for nearly 50 years up until her passing in March of 2023. In his free time, Charles enjoyed woodworking and gardening and loved to grow anything he was able to. He was a great storyteller, a good cook, and a wonderful bread baker; he really enjoyed baking his own bread. Charles will be missed greatly.
He is survived by his daughter, Corina (Steve) Blanda; sons, Bill (Carolyn) Maraggos, Tony Maraggos, Kenny (Paula) Cunningham, and Joe (Susan) Cunningham; and brother, George (Sybil) Reese. He is also survived by multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Ruth; wife, Josie Reese; sons, Gary Maraggos and Donald Cunningham; and his brother, Donald Reese.
A Visitation for Charles will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 1800 21st Ave, Greeley, CO 80631. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Charles will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 W. 28th Street, Greeley, CO, 80634.
