Danny G. Goodwine, 72, passed away surrounded by family after battling a brief and sudden illness on July 5, 2018 in Denver. Danny was born on January 14, 1946 to William (Bill) Goodwine and Cleona (Speer) Goodwine-Nelson in Greeley, Colorado. He was a 1964 graduate of Greeley High School, after which he attended Colorado State University, and later the University of Northern Colorado. In 1972 he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.
He married Jody Lupher on August 21, 1969 in Vail, Colorado. Shortly thereafter he began his 33 year career as an engineer at Mountain Bell (later USWest, Qwest Communications, and Century Link). After Danny’s retirement, he worked tirelessly as financial manager of The Counseling Center, a business he and Jody built together.
He was also a sergeant in the Air National Guard from 1967 to 1973.
Danny was a gifted athlete, he excelled in football, basketball, and softball, and was a champion water skier. He also enjoyed snow skiing, ice skating, roller skating, volleyball and golf. As an exceptionally loving and devoted family man, Danny always supported his daughters’, grandsons’, nieces’, and nephews’ sporting and musical activities; and coached nearly every soccer and softball team his girls played on. He was also an avid Broncos, Nuggets, and Rockies fan; almost never missing a game.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-brother Jeff Fahrenbruch.
He is survived by his wife Jody; daughters Dana (Jay) Clanin of Longmont and Beth Goodwine of Greeley; a sister Nancy (Bill) Adams of Greeley; grandmother Betty Speer of Evans; step-mother Dean Goodwine of Greeley; step-brothers Scott Fahrenbruch of Carson City, Nevada and Cory (Anna) Fahrenbruch of Naples, Florida, and Tom (Sue) Nelson of Greeley; grandsons Evan and Mitchell Clanin of Longmont; nephews Jason (Kristie) Adams, Bob (Susan) Adams, and Tyler Adams and nieces Nicole Adams and Kayla Adams.
A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 West 28th Street, Greeley. Danny wasn’t big on suits and ties, so please feel free to dress comfortably.
