

David Ortega, 85, of Greeley, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at TRU Hospice of Northern Colorado inpatient unit. He was born on May 4, 1932 in Eaton, Colorado to Faustino and Angelita (Perez) Ortega.
On March 18, 1951, he married Angela Diaz in Denver at the Church of God in Christ, Bishop William Odom presided. After their marriage, they lived in Denver and later returned to Greeley. Angela passed away on June 30, 2016.
David grew up in the Eaton area on a farm. He attended schools in Eaton and Greeley. After his education, he worked for Monfort of Colorado. He later worked for Bucklen Equipment, where he retired. David and wife, Angela, owned and operated Ortega’s Paint and Body Shop for over 30 years.
David was an avid HAM Radio Operator. He communicated with people worldwide. David was an accomplished carpenter. He completed several renovations to their properties.
David and Angela’s focus was their family. They were a very generous couple.
David is survived by his daughters, Rosalie I. Ortega, Abigail D. Nickerson (Jae) and Ruth E. Ortega-Pacheco (Claro) all of Greeley; sons, William D. Ortega (Denise) of Windsor and Anthony E. Ortega (Rosa), Albert L. Ortega, Ronald J. Ortega, Andrew R. Ortega and David Allen Ortega (Mona) all of Greeley; two sisters, Rachel Rangel and Marybell Ferguson both of Loganville, Georgia; 25 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Angela, two grandsons, Albert LeRoy Ortega and Levon George Griego, three sisters, Rosalie, Jennie and Lucy and four brothers, Lloyd, Ben, Pete and Johnnie.
Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2017 followed by Funeral service at 2:00 p.m. both at Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
