Dwight P. Palser

He was born on Jan. 14, 1919, in North Loop, Neb. to Edgar Seymour and Alice Fern (Wood) Palser.

The family moved to Big Springs, Neb., when Dwight was a child. He graduated from Big Springs High School in 1936. He started to teach school in Big Springs in 1938. Dwight later became the principal of the elementary school and coached grade school football, basketball and baseball. He was certified by the state of Nebraska to referee football and basketball, and umpire baseball for many age levels.

Dwight married Lois V. Aufrecht on Oct. 13, 1939, in Ogallala, Neb. She died Feb. 23, 2007.

The family moved to Greeley in 1961. Dwight worked in real estate and was a partner of Triangle Realty, Greeley. In December 1962, he started working as a letter carrier in Greeley. He retired in December 1993. He was the president of the Colorado Chapter of National Association of Letter Carriers and a member of the National Association of Retired Letter Carriers. He served as president of Weld County Chapter of Rocky Mountain Farmer's Union. Dwight was very active in politics and lobbied in Washington, D.C. He was very interested in keeping abreast with current events.

Dwight was a very active member of the First Assembly of God in Greeley. He was a Bible scholar and loved to help others understand by teaching adult Sunday school for over 40 years. He served as a deacon on the church board for many years. Dwight was a giving person of his assets and his time. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Judy (John) Crier of Granbury, Texas; a son, Don (Bev) Palser of Greeley; a sister, Evelyn Leaf of Julesburg; and a brother, Phil Palser of Eau Clare, Wis.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeri Van Houten; and a brother, Dale Palser.

Funeral service: 10 a.m. Monday from the First Assembly Of God, 3000 16th St. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
