Edith R. Shelton of Greeley passed away Monday, June 13, 2011. She was born July 29, 1922, in Unionville, Missouri to Frank and Ethel (Lupton) Maulsby.
She graduated from Unionville High School and received her teaching license at Kirksville Teachers College. On November 26, 1947 she married Edward L. Shelton; the two were married for more than 50 years. In 1957, the family, now with a son and twins, moved to northern Colorado. She was involved in the family dairy diversified farming operation up until her passing.
Edith was a member of LaSalle Baptist Church for 25 years and a current member of Christ Community Church in Roggen. She will be remembered for her faith in Jesus, her selfless love for her family, and her joyful, generous spirit.
She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Shelton of Roggen; sons, Ron Shelton (Debbie) of Greeley and Roger Shelton (Nora) of Phoenix, Arizona; sister-in-law, Jean Shelton of Unionville, Missouri; nephews, John Steven Maulsby of Minden, Nebraska, and Jerry Shelton of Unionville, Missouri; niece, Debbie Wybert of Moberly, Missouri; grandchildren, Erin Shelton of Denver, Paul Shelton (Bethany) of Overland Park, Kansas, Amanda Shelton of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jason Shelton (Emily) of LaSalle, Erica Shelton of Phoenix, Arizona, Kevin Shelton of Phoenix, Arizona, and Brenda Shelton of Denver. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother John Neal Maulsby.
Visitation 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Stoddard Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Bethel Baptist Church. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
