Ed was born on January 14, 1933 in Peoria, IL to Oscar and Lelia (Mellert) Linn. He grew up near Canton IL, working on his family’s farm through high school. He was a machinist in the Navy, stationed at Glenview Navel Airstation in Glenview, IL. Ed studied at University of Illinois, Northwestern University, and Bradley University where he graduated with a degree in Industrial Arts.
Ed married Judith Arlene Buffum on August 19, 1954 in Canton. They were married for 67 years.
Ed owned Linn Farms (Canton) and was a past president of the Canton Chamber of Commerce. He served as trustee on the boards first of Wesley United Methodist Church (Canton) and of First United Methodist Church (Greeley). A 32nd degree Mason, Ed was a Shriner and a member of the Consistory. He loved flying and earned his commercial pilot’s license. He was a life member of the NRA, and a water dowser. Ed liked a good laugh. His favorite part of the newspaper was the comic section. He loved his community, always ready to help a friend or neighbor.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Virginia, and sister Margaret Linn. He is survived by his wife Judy, children Nancy (Art) Krull, Diana (Mike) Bates, and Edie (Marty) Dolben, grandchildren Amanda (Eric) Ketzer, Julie (Adam) Beston, Hannah Krull, 3 great-grandchildren, and by his sister Eleanor (Jerry) Leeper.
