

Elaine was born with a heart defect and had her first heart surgery as a baby. That helped pave the way for what she chose to do in life. She said she always knew she would become a Nurse Practitioner in a neonatal intensive care unit due to her start in life. Elaine was a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan for 43 years. She helped care for countless babies over the years and was truly a gift to her profession.
Elaine started out with a bachelor’s in nursing from Northern Michigan University, then a master’s in nursing from Wayne State, and finally achieved her goal of becoming a Nurse Practitioner.
Elaine was a member of the University Presbyterian Church in Michigan for 50 years, where she was also a youth group advisor and played in the Bell Choir. After retiring in 2022, she moved to Fort Collins, Colorado and became a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Collins. She was part of the missions planning board and continued in the Bell Choir.
Elaine was a kind and compassionate person who spent her life caring for others.
Elaine is survived by her mother, Carol Mondt; her sister, Lin Mondt; and numerous cousins, co-workers and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bob Mondt.
Elaine was loved by many, made quite an impression on even more, and will be missed tremendously.
