

Elsie W. Cook, 86, of Aurora, CO passed away March 16, 2017 at Life Care Center of Aurora. She was born to Arthur H. and Jennie A. (Risley) Walden on April 1, 1930 in Colorado Springs, CO. She married Donald E. Cook in Colorado Springs, September 2, 1951. They moved to Aurora, living there until 1964, and then moved to Greeley until 2009, and back to Aurora until the present date.
She attended and graduated from Palmer High School in 1948. She then attended and graduated from Colorado College in 1952. She was the first woman to be granted a Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology. She worked as a Medical Technologist after graduation. Later after her kids were older, she worked at Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.
Elsie loved to read, knit and sew, and was a huge fan of hockey, especially the Colorado Avalanche. She also enjoyed spending time at the cabin in Breckenridge, and her dogs were very special to her.
She belonged to the Greeley Philharmonic Guild, PEO and Kappa Alpha Theta. She and Donald were the original founders and president to the swim club in Greeley.
She is survived by her daughter Cathy (Thomas) Kilgore; her sons, Chris (Anna) Cook, Brian and Jeff Cook; grandchildren Gabriel Cook, Amy Cook Steele; Devin, Kyler and Lisa Kilgore; and great-grandchildren, Samuel, Emma, Ezekiel and Timothy Steele, Alexia and Callie Cook.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Donald E. Cook.
Memorial Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Harvard Square Assisted Living, 10200 E. Harvard Ave., Denver, CO, 80231. Reception at Roxborough Park Community Center to follow.
