Elsie Pearl Miller was born in Springfield, MO on March 18, 1926 to John and Erna Miller. She moved to the family farm in Ft. Morgan when she was four years old. Elsie Pearl was the seventh child of twelve children. She was confirmed and raised in the Lutheran faith.
Elsie Pearl Miller married Robert (Bob) Eckhardt on December 14, 1947 in Ft. Morgan. They farmed South of Kersey from 1947 to 1983 and retired to Greeley. In 1997 they moved to Ft. Morgan for 10 years and then returned to Greeley to be with family. Growing up on a farm, Elsie was always a hard worker where she thinned beets, milked cows and drove tractors. That continued after marriage but due to hard times, Elsie got odd jobs sewing jeans, processing turkeys, and after getting a GED, became an administrative assistant in Financial Aid at UNC until retirement. Elsie Pearl always had a smile, was a natural care giver, people loved her, and she dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing (even made her daughter’s wedding dress and her son’s jeans), fishing, and was very athletic playing golf and bowling.
Elsie Pearl is survived by her sisters; Dickie, Esther, Dorothy Mae and brother Harold. She has two children, John (Trudy) Eckhardt of Loveland and Linda (Ed) Printz of Platteville. She has four grandchildren; Heidi (Jeff) Abrahamson, Heather (Jim) Huntley all of Loveland, Mathew (Kari) Printz of Elm Creek, NE and Ben Printz of Greeley. She has six great grandchildren; Brodee and Emma Dodson, Nathan and Julia Abrahamson, and Jameson and Scarlett Printz. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and her special roommate Natasha.
She was preceded in death by her husband, sisters; Mildred, Merdie, Bonnie June, Brothers: Harry, Robert, Harvey and Clyde, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family thanks the special care given by Bonell Good Sam, the 4th Floor staff at NCMC, and Chris at ICU.
