Jay has lived in Colorado for many years but his heart belonged to Texas.
In 1993 Jay met Raquel and they have been together ever since, raising two wonderful children.
Jay was a truck driver for the Waste Management family for several years. He has been a loyal employee and a great friend to all whom he met. His hard work and dedication was showcased in all aspects of his life.
Watching and coaching his son Anthony play baseball was how he loved to spend his time outside of work.
He was very involved in coaching his son, but also inspired and encouraged other kids in the community. Coach Fred and Jay were going to reunite their baseball academy this fall, Northern Colorado Bulldogs, to expand their influence on the baseball community.
Jay is survived by his wife, Raquel; daughter, Michelle; son, Anthony; father, Hilario; sister, Julia French; two brothers, Samuel Fernandez (Elvia) and Rene Fernandez (Leticia) and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
A Celebration Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment will be at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park in Harlingen, Texas
