Federico was born the youngest of 4 children on March 4, 1960, to his loving parents Virgilio Sasso and Reina Sasso in the Dominican Republic. This was where he got his rich accent, culture, and love for family. At the age of 12, he emigrated to Washington Heights in New York City with his mom, Reina, his sister, Gloria, and his three brothers, Virgilio, Fernando, and Oscar. In New York City, he lived a life that was bigger than his personality. Channeling John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever, he was always sharply dressed, had great hair, and was always ready to show off his moves.
At the age of 18 he joined the Army. He loved to tell everyone how they promised him the chance to go to Europe or California but shipped him here to Colorado instead. He loved his time in the Army and was always very proud of what he accomplished during his service. It was during his time in Colorado that he met the love of his life, Tina. He met her at a dance and as she would put it, “swept her off her feet”. They spent 41 years together and had countless adventures, two amazing kids, three beautiful grandchildren, and very loving dogs.
Federico was one of the friendliest people you could ever meet. He made it a point to make everyone he met smile or laugh once when he was talking to them. He would give anyone a ride and told everyone who came into his home; go into the kitchen and get whatever you want. His voice could fill a room and his laugh always touched your heart. Even through two cancer diagnoses, chemotherapy, and heart failure; he never lost his charm. The joys in his life were making memories with family, music, the occasional Blackhawk trip, boxing matches, comedy specials, his pets, and cooking. There is no doubt, the world got a little quieter when he passed.
Federico is survived in life by his wife, Augustina Sasso, son, Federico Sasso JR. and his wife Delaney, daughter, Tinisha Sasso and her Fiancée Rene Retana, brothers, Virgilio Sasso, Fernando Sasso, Oscar Sasso, sister, Gloria Rodriguez and her husband Jose, grandchildren, Presley Sasso, Noah Sasso and Mia Sasso.
He also leaves behind his two chihuahuas, Ziggy and Olivia, a bird named Niko, and a cat named Oranges.
If you would like you can send flowers to the funeral services at Allnutt Macy Chapel, 6521 W. 20th Street, Greeley, Co 80634.
