Flora Vigil, 74, of Greeley, passed away Friday, September 4, 2015 at Medical Center of the Rockies. She was born on August 14, 1941 in Rio de Chama, New Mexico to Jose G. Vigil and Lucia Chacon who were farm workers.
Flora was raised in Fruita, Colorado and Snowmass, Colorado along with her 9 siblings. Growing up, she learned what hard work was and became a very perseverant person.
When she married Jose “Ike” Vigil, they decided to move to Greeley, CO., to raise their 6 children. Flora was a stay at home mother, so she could raise her children. After the children were raised, she decided to become a cosmetologist. Flora enjoyed dancing with her husband and having family get-togethers. She and Ike were camp ground hosts for many years. They enjoyed being in the outdoors. Flora would always eat the tree gum from the Pine trees, which now her children share with their children.
After Ike passed away, she became a member of the Red Hat Society and volunteered at the Union Colony Civic Center. She enjoyed traveling with her grandchildren and would always have candy dishes out for them. When Charles Sinden entered her life, they would travel to Branson, Missouri every year afterward. Flora always looked for the bright side of things and giving up was not an option.
Flora is survived by her daughters, Julie Trujillo (Lawrence) and Rita Keiss (Larry); sons, Daniel Vigil and Christopher Vigil; four sisters; two brothers, nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and her good friend, Charles Sinden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ike, two sons, Robert Nick Vigil, and Clifford Anthony Vigil, one sister and two brothers.
A private family service will be held.
