Passed away on October 06, 2021 at his home surrounded by family.
On October 23, 1954, He married the love of his life, Mary M. Brown at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dubuque, IA. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2008.
He was born December 16, 1931, in Dubuque, IA, the son of William Otto Lightfoot and Irene Cordelia (Block) Lightfoot.
He was part of the Boys Scouts in his younger years as well as Boys Club.
Floyd served in the Army from 1951-1953.
In 1958 Floyd and his bride moved to Denver, Colorado where he began working at Odds & Ends Lumber Yard for several years before moving to Greeley, Colorado in 1978.
In the 1980’s he was employed as a Security Guard with Manual Labato in Greeley, CO. and worked for him for several years.
He worked for Agland Co. in Greeley, CO where he retired in 1993.
Floyd was an avid fisherman & hunter. He enjoyed weekends in the mountains fishing & hunting with family until his health would no longer allow it. Camping was one of his favorite past times. As well as taking his grandkids with him. He enjoyed walks in the mountains and woods. He never missed an opportunity to educate the grandkids about the outdoors. He would always show them there is more to life, all you had to do was look.
Survivors include two daughters, Debra Zeigafuse (James), Casper, Wyoming, and Jo Ann Moss (Earl), West Union, Iowa; One sister-in-law, Rita Brothers, Beaver Dam, WI; 6 Grandchildren: Sarah Martin (Richard), Floyd Bennett (Laura), Daniel Bennett, Paul Bennett, Christopher Moss, & Craig Moss; 6 Step-Grandchildren, 21 Great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren.
Besides his wife he is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Catherine Marie Lightfoot; an infant son, Robert Francis Lightfoot; a grandson, Bret Peterson; 4 brothers, Arnold E. Lightfoot, William (Billy) L. Lightfoot, Andrew E. Lightfoot Sr, Frank Lightfoot; 4 sisters, Jennie V. Beversdorf, Violet I. Dress, Bernice M. Armbruster, Viola M. (Toots) Powell.
A Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2021 followed by funeral service at 12:00 p.m. both at Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
