Gladys was born to James Mayes and Lavina Becker on January 2, 1945 in Brush, Colorado. She was one of eight brothers and sisters. Gladys has been married to her husband, Daniel for 55 years.
She was a daycare provider and absolutely loved kids. She enjoyed baking, taking care of her home, and taking care of her family. Gladys was a thrifter and loved shopping at all the thrift stores.
Gladys would do anything for anyone. She was born with a disability, but she never let that hold her back.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel; daughters, Debra Brown and Tori Ann Lopez; brother, Johnnie Mayes; a special nephew who was like a son, Wesley Mayes; goddaughter, Kathryn Reeves; her 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a very large extended family.
Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, her three sisters, Betty, Dorothy and Donna, and her three brothers, Tommie, Robert and Sonny.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ Community Church, 1301 15th Street, Greeley, Colorado 80631. The family requests that guests wear pink and blue in remembrance of Gladys. In lieu of fresh flowers, the family would prefer pink and blue artificial flowers.
