Harold R Smith

Harold (Snookie) Smith, 86, of Johnstown, died Thursday, March 19, 2026. He was born April 13, 1939 in Fort Collins, CO. Harold attended St. Peters Catholic School for nine years and then Greeley High. He joined the Navy in 1956 and served on the Aircraft Carrier USS Lexington and other Naval Air Bases in the San Diego area. After his Navy tour he worked at Stromberg-Carlson and General Dynamics in San Diego. In 1965 he joined Hewlett-Packard Company in Loveland, CO. He retired from Hewlett Packard 34 years later.

Harold enjoyed bird hunting, fishing, cooking (his speciality was spaghetti dinners for Christmas, Easter and birthdays), gardening, exploring the mountains, listening to music, classic movies, MARTINIS (stir, don’t shake) and fine wines.

Harold is survived by his wife, Karen (Marr) Smith, his four children, Sabrina Ferguson (Mike), Anastasia Gardner (Ron), Cameron Smith (Mary) and Christopher Smith (Amy). Eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Brother Donald Smith and sister Shirley Forehand. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Dorthy Smith.

Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Greeley on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow the Mass at Linn Grove Cemetery.
