Helen was born and raised in Greeley, graduating from Greeley High School. On December 28, 1945, she married Harvey J. Self in Greeley. He died on July 31, 2002.
Helen worked in District 6 at Cameron Elementary as a teacher’s aide and retired as a school secretary at Meeker School. Helen was a member of the Pioneer Post No. 2121 VFW Auxiliary and DAV Auxiliary.
She was an avid bowler and belonged to leagues for over 50 years. Helen enjoyed cross stitching, knitting and crocheting. She loved giving her work to her grandchildren.
Helen is survived by two sons, Glenn Self (wife, Betty) of San Diego, California and Charles Self (wife, Sharleen) of Paragould, Arkansas; one grandson; three granddaughters; two great-granddaughter and a great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey and a brother, Donald Rumney.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2015 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
