He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diane Meuret; his son, Brent Meuret and his wife, Melissa Meuret of Thornton, CO; his daughters, Betsy (Meuret) Steckler and her husband, Max Steckler of Sammamish, WA; Rebecca Meuret of Loveland, CO; six grandchildren, Tyler, Tanner, Trever Meuret and MacAlister, Joshua and Emily Steckler.
Born on January 21st, 1927 and raised in Wausau, Wisconsin, the son of Henry and Ella (Kretlow) Meuret. At an early age, he found his love of woodworking and building from his father and that continued throughout his life as both a hobby and profession. After serving in WWII as a Petty Officer in the Navy he attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison and graduated with honors as a Mechanical Engineer.
After college, he worked as a Construction Superintendent overseeing the building of Mankato’s (MN) primary hospital, which led him to Morgan Millwork where he led the Research and Development team for 30 years. Henry moved his family to Long Island, NY where he was the VP of Manufacturing for Bischoff Chemical and later to Sioux Falls, SD for Jordan Millwork.
A resident of Loveland for 34 years, Henry and Diane made this their home. After moving here to spearhead Rocky Mountain Furniture’s move into the commercial millwork business in the early 80’s, Henry continued to stay focused on the local growth of Loveland and the housing industry. His passion for building continued as an Architectural Designer for Custom On-site and Glen Homes for over 13 years. He not only took pride in his profession, but also truly relished the relationships he made. Over the years, his expertise and reputation earned him a great deal of respect, awards, and industry patents.
His father, an Engineer for Chicago Northwestern Railroad, was a significant influence on his life and his families. Henry loved to share his stories to anyone that would listen and until recently could name all the ‘stops’ his father made on his route in northern Wisconsin. He was a mentor and was known for his ability to see a design, a concept that others couldn’t. He was a friend, a man of great faith and believed in the good of others. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him and he would love to share life lessons with them as often as possible.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Loveland High School Geometry and Construction program, (teaching the art of home building to students) 920 W. 29th Street, Loveland, Colorado 80538.
