

Herbert “Herbie” Lee Nichols, 50, of Roggen, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Hospice of Northern Colorado in Greeley. Herbie was born on June 3, 1964 in Brunswick, Georgia to Jimmy Dale and Genelle (Strickland) Nichols.
Herbie moved from Brunswick to Cedaredge, Colorado in 1965. He attended Wiggins Elementary School, Columbine Junior High and Fort Morgan High School.
Herbie was a farmer then went to work in the oil industry.
Herbie was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Fort Morgan. He enjoyed racing motorcycles and singing karaoke. He always helped his sons when they were working on their cars.
Herbie is survived by his sons, Bradley and Ryan Nichols both of Grand Junction, Colorado; parents, Genelle Nichols and Jimmy Nichols both of Roggen, Colorado; sister, Velinda Nichols of Fort Morgan, Colorado; brothers, Melvin A. Clark (Oveta) of Boones, Colorado, Everett “Cecil” Clark (Pat) of Fort Morgan, Jimmy Duane Nichols (Gina) of Dacono, Colorado, Ronald Dale Nichols (Pam) of Arizona and Christopher Dale Nichols (April) of Tennessee and one granddaughter, Kaydence Lillian Nichols of Grand Junction, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cecil and Eloise Strickland, Duane Nichols, Elonra Nichols and Eugene Autry Clark.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2014 at Christ Community Church in Roggen. A pot-luck luncheon will follow. Interment will be at Heart of the Plains Cemetery in Roggen.
