Horencia Lerma Muñoz was born Sept 7 1951 in Chihuahua Mexico to Estanislada “Tanis” Rios and Adolfo Lerma-Perea. Hortencia spent most of her young childhood in Mexico Where she met and married the love of her life Adolfo Muñoz Soto on 09/2/1977. Together they moved to the Greeley, Co area where they planted their seed and established their large family. Together they had seven children, Claudia Muñoz, Jorge (Audrey) Muñoz, Maria (Jorge) Castro, Blanca (Mario)Lopez, Adolfo (Yvonne) Muñoz, Jesus Muñoz and Darlene (Oswaldo) Perez. Hortencia was Blessed with 25 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren they were definitely her greatest joy.
Hortencia was described by her family as hard working and always nurturing whether she was in the kitchen mixing up a home-made remedy for someone who had a cold and didn’t feel good or making a warm meal to feed everyone. She always took great pride in caring for her family. Hortencia had a deep love for birds and being outdoors. You could always catch her outside her home doing what she enjoyed most gardening and watching her animals. Hortencia was very adventurous she loved the beach and enjoyed traveling often to Chihuahua Mexico, where she grew up. One of her many hobbies included embroidery. She was often found stitching, enjoying a fresh cup of coffee; while listening to music that brought her joy and relaxation.
Hortencia's children will always remember her as strong minded, determined and straight forward. She never failed to say what she was thinking. Her grandchildren will always remember her for her playful sense of humor and funny facial expressions, especially when they were trying to capture a picture or video of her. However everyone who knew and loved her will always remember her as a loving, nurturing mother, wife and women who was always family oriented, easy going and joyful. She will be deeply missed for her ability to always bring a smile or a laugh to any conversation.
Hortencia passed away on February 7, 2026 at the age of 74, she is preceded in death by her Mother Tanis Rios, father Adolfo Lerma, Siblings Roberto, Lucia, Ricardo, Jose and Ventura and Grandson Omar Toby piñon.
