Howard Kirkwood Larkins

Howard Kirkwood “Kirk” Larkins III of Lafayette, CO went to meet his Savior and family in heaven on Friday, February 4, 2022. He was born on March 27, 1958 at Weld County General Hospital to Bonita Violet (McDowell) Larkins and Howard Kirkwood Larkins II. He was the third child and had two older sisters, Susan and Luanne.

Growing up, Kirk loved baseball, tools, smoothies, hamburgers and French fries. His father was the leader of Boy Scout Troop 211 (a troop serving handicapped young men) for many years so that Kirk could participate in scouting.

Kirk had several nieces and nephews who enjoyed spending time with him throughout his life including Susan (Larkins) Proffit’s son, Kevin Thompson and Eric and Luanne (Larkins) Loloff’s children Wendy, Erica and Kara and their children Jackson, Josiah, Ellianna and Myer.

Due to his disabilities, Kirk benefitted from many programs over his lifetime and the family is especially grateful for all of those that served Kirk through Community Advantage including George and Esther Awuku and their children who hosted Kirk for many of his last years and provided excellent care.

Kirk was proceeded in death by his mother Bonita, his father Howard and his sister, Susan.

A family graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens with a public memorial service to be held in May 2022.
