Jacqueline Anne Slade

We are beyond saddened to announce the passing of our mother, Jackie Slade, on Monday, January 9, 2023. She went peacefully, surrounded by family, after a brief battle with cancer. She leaves behind her mother, Yvonne Matthews, her sisters Helen (Bryce, Lauren, Dylan) and Frances (Gillian, Alex), daughter Stephanie (Chris), son Nick, and two granddaughters, Lily and Anna, whom she loved very much.

She also leaves behind many, many friends and family worldwide- from Wales to Canada, Utah to Texas, Florida to Washington, Iowa to Nebraska, and most recently Colorado.

She spent many years teaching in the Catholic school system in Omaha, which she loved very much. She had a special passion for teaching CLD, as she related to their experiences moving to a new country as a child. Most recently she was teaching at Bella Romero Academy in Greeley, Colorado. She absolutely loved keeping in touch with her students over the years and was always so proud to share their updates with us.

We were beyond blessed to have spent the last year and a half living all in the same zip code, having many a family dinner or drive in the mountains. She absolutely adored her granddaughters- even when they "borrowed" her things. She also recently became a proud "chicken mom", and always had love for every dog she met.

True to Jackie's personality, she did not want a fuss to be made of her in her final months and as such, requested that we not throw a large funeral on her behalf. We will hold a family ceremony later this year in Green River, Utah.

For her Omaha friends, All Saints Catholic School is holding a mass in her honor next Friday at 8:30 am. More details will be posted on the school Facebook page soon.
