In October of 1960 Janice married Dennis Shackelford. Together they had 2 daughters Tammy and Sherri. In 1969 Dennis and Janice moved the family to Canon City, Colorado. They started their own business and named it The Mart Glass and Hobby Shop which included auto repair, painting, and glass repair. Janice also taught crafting, framing, beading and cake decorating classes from the store. Janice was an active Girl Scout leader and spent many days riding her motorcycle and camping with family and friends. Janice began her career of 32 years working for the State of Colorado. During that time she worked at Veterans Home in Florence, Colorado. The Department of Corrections in Canon City. Then in 1980 the family moved to Fort Collins, Colorado. Soon thereafter Janice began her passionate career with The Colorado Division of Wildlife where she was a valued employee for 21 years. One of her favorite memories was being able to meet Chuck Norris at a filming of Texas Walker Ranger on the Colorado Division of Wildlife property.
In retirement, Janice enjoyed sewing costumes, clothing and quilting, painting Native American scenes and nature scenes, and spending many hours tending to her garden as she was known for growing the best strawberries. Janice loved the outdoors and had a passion for hiking, camping, and attending the mountain man rendezvous.
