Jerry Roy Copeland, 58, died April 18, 2010, at his home in Johnstown.
Jerry was born Dec. 28, 1951, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Harvey Roy and Elisabeth C. (Ahsmus) Copeland.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1971-1977. After returning from his service, he married Karen S. Lundstrum on June 9, 1978, in Davis County, Iowa.
Jerry was bigger than life. He was the rock that held his family together. Jerry had a great sense of humor. He and his wife served as presidents of the North East Colorado Square Dance Council. He was a member of the Colorado State Square Dance Association, North East Callers and Cuers Association, and the Caller Lab.
Jerry had a gorgeous bass voice and sang with Wagon Masters.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Karen Copeland; his daughters, Candi Campbell and husband Rick of Johnstown and Kelly Hayford of Florida; his sons, Dusty Copeland and wife Tiff of Evans and Kevin Copeland of Florida; one sister; three brothers; and ten grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
An open house will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2010, at the Johnstown Community Center to celebrate Jerry's life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jerry Copeland Memorial Fund c/o First National Bank.
