Jess Nelson

Jess Nelson, 79, of Fort Collins, Colorado passed away June 3, 2016. He was born December 20, 1936 in Ogallala, Nebraska to John and Florence Nelson. Jess attended Kearney State Collage and graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He was united in marriage to Irene Banks on December 23, 1961 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Jess enjoyed hunting with his dog, playing basketball into his 70’s, running 5 K’s, taking his grandchildren to lunch, and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Irene Nelson; daughter, Sue (Greg) Rutherford; son, John Nelson; grandchildren, Tait Rutherford, Baylen Rutherford, Andrea Nelson, 6 nieces, nephews and their families. Jess was preceded in death by his sister, Neva Nadine Beck, brother-in-law, Merritt Beck and one nephew. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Plymouth Congregational Church, 916 W. Prospect Road, Fort Collins, Colorado.
