Joan Marilyn (Bell) Kern passed away April 18, 2017 in Fort Collins, CO. Joan was born March 25, 1935 in Shields, MI to J. Wesley and Helen Bell (both deceased). She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years Gene R. Kern. Joan is survived by her children: Rick (Kathi) Bell of Troy, MI; Jodi (Mike) Levine of Omaha, NE; Randie (Cindi) Bell of Fort Collins, CO; and her grandchildren Rachel, Adam, Michael and Stephani. Joan attended Michigan State University studying education, and belonged to Phi Mu sorority. She was a teacher, reporter for the local paper, and held various secretarial and office positions throughout her career; however her favorite occupation was always teaching. Until recently, she was a long-time resident of Frankenmuth, MI where she raised her family and left behind many beloved friends. She had a strong and unwavering faith in God. And as a Jehovah’s Witness she proclaimed the word of God to many people, conducting Bible studies weekly at her nursing home. Joan set a wonderful example on every front: in patience, endurance and faith. She loved her family more than anything. The family would like to thank Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of the Rockies for all the kindness and care they bestowed upon our mother. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 6th, 2017 at 10:30 in the morning at Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of the Rockies (1020 Patton Street, Fort Collins, Colorado)
A favorite quote of Joan’s, “Tomorrow’s forecast: God reigns and the Son shines.” Family and friends are invited to sign the online guest book and to share their favorite memories of Joan at www.allnutt.com.
