

Joan B. Wood, 83, formerly of Loveland, passed away on December 16, 2015 in Brighton, Colorado. Joan was born on April 1, 1932 in McAdoo, PA to Anthony and Catherine (Melnyk) Galosky. She graduated from McAdoo High School then went to a trade school as an infant/childcare specialist, which was not the norm for women during this time. She worked initially at a home for unwed mothers in Philadelphia, where she met Joseph F. Wood. They were married on October 12, 1957 in Philadelphia. They purchased their first home, after marrying, in Upper Darby, PA. Joan went back to school to obtain her LPN, after having two children, and then worked for Delaware County Hospital. After retiring in 1991, they moved to Loveland, CO to be closer to family. Joan’s hobbies were handwriting analysis, bible study and volunteering for both suicide prevention and Al-anon.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Joe. She is survived by her son Joseph A. Wood; daughter Catherine L. Bottoms of Frisco, CO; brother Gabriel Galosky of Harrisburg, PA; sister Dorothy and her husband, Victor, Delisle of Roswell, GA and grandchildren Christopher and his wife, Emily, and Gregory Bottoms.
