JoAnn Colgin

JoAnn Colgin died peacefully on February 25, 2017 in Fort Collins with her family at her side. Born on April 9, 1941 in Casper, WY, JoAnn was the daughter of Norris and Bertha (Fellmann) Patterson.

In her childhood, she attended school in Casper, met lifelong friends, and enjoyed the occasional travel with her parents. On November 25, 1961, she married her high school sweetheart, William (Bill) Colgin, Sr. and had a long and happy marriage filled with love and respect. They raised two sons, Bill and Mark, in Casper.

JoAnn was an office manager at a medical laboratory in Casper. She always worked hard with a never-give-up attitude. With good friends and family central to her life, Bill and JoAnn made their home in Casper until 1997. They retired in Fort Collins.

During retirement, she and Bill spent decades of quality time together. She took great pride in their home, perfecting their landscaping and garden. She often traveled to spend time with their children and grandchildren. She enjoyed entertaining guests in their home and cherished the holidays with family. JoAnn’s cooking and baking skills were legendary. Her family and especially her grandchildren eagerly awaited the massive tins of perfectly decorated cut-out cookies and candies every Christmas.

JoAnn kept herself busy with gardening, baking, cooking, reading, playing cards, collecting antiques, and spending time with her family and friends. She had endless energy and was always up for a new adventure. She approached life with good humor and will be remembered as an extraordinarily kind, thoughtful, caring, genuine and selfless person. Her grace was exemplary.

Survivors include her husband, Bill; her two sons, Bill (Allison) Colgin, Jr., Mark (Svetlana) Colgin and grandchildren: Elizabeth, Audrey, Caitlin, William, Benjamin, Alex and Sasha.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Allen, and her parents.

JoAnn died peacefully on February 25, 2017 in Fort Collins with her family at her side.

Celebration services for JoAnn Colgin will be conducted at 2 pm, Saturday, March 11 at Allnutt Funeral Services in Fort Collins, CO.
