

Born and raised in Denver, John had a remarkable spirit from a young age. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts and proudly achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. A 1962 graduate of Denver North High School, John went on to serve his country in the United States Coast Guard and the Reserves.
In 1966, he married the love of his life, Marie Villano, beginning a devoted partnership that would span nearly six decades. During his college years, John was a member of the Beta Alpha Psi Accounting Fraternity and earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Denver in 1970, followed by his CPA certification.
In 1972, John and Marie moved their growing family to Greeley, where he began his accounting career with Anderson, Hunter, Thompte and Kurtz. He later co-founded his own firm, Dollarhide & Schwartz, and ultimately retired from Kennedy and Coe. Throughout his career, John was respected for his integrity, professionalism, and dedication to excellence.
A passionate community leader, John served on the boards of numerous local organizations, including the Greeley Chamber of Commerce, Weld County United Way, the Northern Colorado Foundation, the Greeley Arts Center, Greeley Parks and Recreation, and the Better Business Bureau. He was a longtime member of the Greeley Elks Lodge and the Greeley Country Club. John also dedicated over 35 years to the Friends of Baseball program, where he made a lasting impact on generations of youth and families. In 2023, he was honored with the Friends of Baseball Committee and Bill Dressor Memorial Award for his contributions and support.
Above all, John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, and friend. Known affectionately by many as “Cheeks” or simply “Dollar,” he brought humor, kindness, and a memorable presence to every room he entered. His warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
John is survived by his loving wife, Marie; his children, John (Claudia) Charles Dollarhide, Jeffrey (Anne) Carl Dollarhide, Jennifer Christie (Bud) Branson, and Joseph (Justina) Christopher Dollarhide; his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Villano; and his cherished grandchildren, Hannah Marie, Lucee Li, Jacob David, Sarah Alexis, Adriana Abril Dollarhide, Matt Branson, Bryan Branson, and Jamie Richter.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Helen Dollarhide; his in-laws, Salvatore and Olive Villano; his brother, David Dollarhide; and his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Dollarhide.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Greeley Country Club, 4500 W 10th St, Greeley, CO 80634.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Weld Legacy Foundation, 815 8th Ave, Greeley, CO 80631, in care of Allnutt Funeral Service – Macy Chapel.
