

Jon William Nelson died at his home on February 19, 2017. He was born September 28, 1940 in Omaha, Nebraska to Father William Orville Nelson and Mother Billie Murray. Jon graduated from: Omaha Central High school, University of Omaha, 1962 with distinction in Marketing, University of Nebraska, Lincoln 1964 MBA and all course work for PhD. in Business Administration, University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Jon became a professor at the University of Nebraska at Kearney for 30 years from 1967-1997. During that time Jon married his wife Beverly on March 29, 1969 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Kearney, Nebraska. After his teaching career he moved to Estes Park in 1997 and opened Such A Deal Flea Market and owned that for 11 years. Jon was an active member of St Francis Anglican church where he served as Senior Warden, Acolyte and Sub-deacon. He also was a volunteer at Crossroads Ministry in Estes Park, Admiral in The Great Navy of Nebraska, Delta Sigma Pi - Business fraternity at University of Omaha, Executive Council for Diocese of Nebraska, Search committee for Bishop; Head of Stewardship for the Diocese of Diocese of Nebraska, American Marketing Association member, Completed Education for Ministry from the University of the South, School of Theology and developed a Financial Impact study for Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE. This format was also used by the college in Kearney. Jon was a lifelong learner with many interests. He loved studying the Bible, reading, working on stained glass, traveling, visiting museums, studying American Indian culture, writing articles for publication and letters to the editor. He spent time nurturing house plants, gardening (especially growing tomatoes), using the barbecue grill, and listening to all genres of music. Jon is preceded in death by his parents and Sister Alyce Lisle. Jon is survived by wife, Beverly Son Tory Jon Nelson (Berenice) of Ft. Collins CO, Sister Conee Nelson (Robert Hall) of Wilmington DE and Grandchildren Avery Buser, Westley Nelson. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday February 25, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. St. Francis of Assisi Anglican Church, Estes Park, CO. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to: The Jon Nelson MKT/MIS/SCM Scholarship at the University of Nebraska, Kearney; St. Francis of Assisi Anglican Church, Estes Park; Home Health/Hospice of Estes Park in care of Allnutt Funeral Service Estes Park CO 80517.
