Larry was born July 25, 1926 in East St. Louis, Illinois to Edward and Anna (Welker) Price. He was married to Ellery Johnson from August 22, 1951 until her passing in September of 2002. Larry was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Greeley. He was a Signalman in the U.S. Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Ashland in the South Pacific from 1944 until 1946.
He earned his Bachelor's Degree at Adams State College, and his Master's Degree in Education at the University of Colorado. Larry took pride in his work as a teacher and coach from 1950 through 1984, spending nearly 20 years of his career at Greeley West High School and Heath Junior High. During that time, he was able to pass on his love of sports to many students. He loved sports of all kind, with a
particular fondness for football and baseball (which he played in high school). He especially enjoyed baseball and cheering on his St. Louis Cardinals.
Volunteering was an incredibly important part of Larry’s life. He was a volunteer firefighter, a lecturer at church, and a brilliant leader in their Bible study. He also volunteered with Elder Garden and served on the church’s Board of Directors. He was also active within the Greeley Senior Activity Center and the Friends of Greeley Museums.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Becky Price (Larry Pacheco); his nieces, Valerie, Cathy and Margaret; and his nephews, Steve, Michael, David, Vincent, John, Tim, Kenric, and Charlie.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his brother, Edward Price.
A Memorial Mass for Larry will be held Friday, September 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2222 23rd Avenue, Greeley, Colorado 80634.
